 Enrolling onto a Graduate Scheme

About us:

Emily: I studied Accounting at the University of Manchester.

Jess: I studied Mathematics at the University of Leeds, before joining PWC as a flexible associate, then moved to BSN shortly after.

Career decision:

Emily: I decided to study for the chartered accountancy exams because I enjoyed accountancy at Uni and there are multiple career options in accountancy that interest me.

Jess: I loved pure maths at Uni but I wanted a career which would involve working in a team and solving practical solutions, and so the ICAEW exams allowed me to utilise all my skills, whilst offering wide opportunities in the finance sector.

Why BSN:

Emily: The main reason I chose to join BSN is because when I did a summer placement in my second year at Uni, I found the team environment really inclusive and I knew they would all be willing to help me as I progress throughout my career.

At BSN I also knew I would get the opportunity to experience multiple aspects of accountancy, not just audit, unlike at bigger firms.

Jess: When I first interviewed at BSN, I knew I wanted to work here straight away. It was my first interview where the Partners (Pippa and Hannah) really made an effort to get to know me and explain all the various areas of accounting I could be involved with and so I was excited to work with their clients. At BSN every single person in the team is valued for their work and as an individual, which is one of the reasons why we have lots of fun in and outside work as a team.

I had struggled with my ICAEW exams when working at PWC and found them stressful, however when I came to BSN I passed every exam comfortably first time, and that is due to how supportive and encouraging the whole team is. I am forever grateful to BSN for providing me with this amazing opportunity on their graduate scheme to pass my ICAEW Chartered Accountancy Exams and become a well rounded accountant.
